The Endangered Species Milk Chocolate with Coconut & Macadamia Nuts is a nice take on the coconut/chocolate combo of which I am a big fan. As with the other Endangered Species bar I tried, the chocolate is a tad grainy, but it works better with this bar that already has a texture due to the added coconut and Macadamia nuts. As you can see from the photo, the tempering was a bit off on this bar, but it was well within its sell by date and the taste was not affected.
The chocolate here is 52% (cocoa content) and is sweet, but not overly sweet. In fact, it starts out sweet and milky, but then becomes a bit dry and almost gummy. I love the lingering flavors of butter and coffee. All in all, I like this bar — a grown up version of the chocolate/coconut combo.
The wrapper indicates that the cocoa in these bars is 100% ethically traded and 10% of net profits are donated to "help support species, habitat and humanity." I purchased it at a little candy shop in a nearby town, but these bars are widely available these days.
